Working with images can often be a minefield, but a simple rule of thumb for best possible image quality is:
300dpi AT ACTUAL SIZE
RGB COLOUR SPACE
JPEG FORMAT
My printing is essentially photographic quality, but of course depends hugely upon the original image. The above specs yield optimum print quality, but of course smaller images work too & can give fantastic results – but think of it as enlarging a photograph to hang on your wall: the bigger & better the original, the better the end result.
I print with a CMYK+2 press, so some image conversion will take place to ensure the most accurate reproduction of colours, but the printable gamut is stunning & much greater than traditional CMYK-only printers. Additionally I Email every order a hi-res visual to ensure you can see exactly how your finished plate will look.
The maximum image size uploadable is 12Mb with a maximum dimension of 4500px, & to confirm optimum print quality is achieved a 300dpi RGB images at actual size.
Due to the accuracy required with image placement on your plate, I recommend using a computer or tablet to design & order rather than your mobile, as size really does matter in this case. Ahem.
